Nearly 90 degrees...again!

Summer is hanging in there. It will be close to 90 degrees again today.  The good part is that the humidity is low and the nights cool off.  And summer isn't really over until next week.

There were opportunities for photos everywhere the past few weeks. My own thought is that we won't have a pretty fall.  We are in "moderate drought" conditions in southern New England.  It simply doesn't rain and when it does, it is has just been a light sprinkle and not a soaking rain.

I will let the pictures do the  pictures do the talking
...Mystic, CT...Newport RI
and other places here in CT

Of course there were creations along the way...mostly done in an air conditioned room!  A few dolls came to stay and a few left the realm. My birthday came and went, we dined in some wonderful restaurants, saw a Van Gogh exhibit in MA, and just think!  Another week of summer left!

Hoping that summer has treated you well!

Looking forward to fall,

as always and until next time,

enjoy the day!

Summer...you go by too soon!

Summer is speedy traveler.  Where do the long days go?  It's really not over until September on the Autumnal Equinox but with the start of school in late August here, the yellow school buses will make it over whether it really is or not!

We have had hot humid weather without rain but the past few days have been really delightful:  dry, sunny, breezy, no smog, no haze.

Here are some "snapshots" of recent visited places...
where have you been this summer?

Swap stuff...as usual!

I would show you my lovely deck garden but the pugnacious neighborhood squirrels ate the tops off the flowers, unearthed roots and nibbled through several cacti.  They are well fed  by our neighborhood so I am not sure what is up with that!  There are many babies and many squabbles while they are invading! They don't like oregano but parsley and basil seem to be faves.  We keep birdbaths filled with water for them but I think they might look for the moisture within the plants they demolish.

Hope you are having a fine summer!

Until next time!

As always,

enjoy the day!

Warm and sunny...for the moment!

It is really warm and sunny at the moment. It feels like summer.  We have been to NY state, MA, VT and all around CT.  I will share some photos with you.

That big Vermont sky is always such  a joy to behold.

Peaceful, quiet, lovely....

Cambridge, New York,
a very special place...

Lunch in Noank , CT,

with a water view!

Let's not forget..
 home sweet home..
the deck on the back of the house!

And a few things were made by me...
and swapped

So far, so good.  The weather has had its extremes but it is a far cry from all of that snow of the winter!  Have been contemplating summer. While we all like photos and videos of people having fun, it seems to me that is frequently a season for the young.  My beach days are in the past.  I do miss long summers with kids home in the days before electronic devices...picnic lunches, using the sprinkler to cool off, reading endless novels, trips to Maine and a  big garden that needed attending.

Home the summer is treating you well..

that fireflies and butterflies come by to visit!

Until next time,

enjoy the day!

A new camera, a new day and an open road...

We headed one way, changed our minds and headed another!  It turned out to be a good idea because we ended up  at the  Fantastic Umbrella Factory and the gardens next door.   Pictures say more than words..

One of the three resident emus!

A little trip over to Stonington Village CT,  to visit some shops...

Meanwhile, remember those drawings I make?  I tried my hand at making swatches at Spoonflower and have had so much fun seeing them printed on fabric.

Hope that you are having great weather wherever you are.  It's the last day of summer in New England USA.  It still looks and feel like late summer though and  we will have lots of enjoyable days ahead for sure. Until then,

As always,

enjoy the day!

Sunday in Connecticut...

Today was a perfect Sunday in Connecticut!  We have had so many perfect days this year that I have stopped being the curmudgeon I can be when it comes to the weather.

Here is a little glimpse into a perfect
late-summer/almost-autumn day....

These photos were  taken at Farmer Joe's which is just a few miles away from here.  I could not resist taking photos when there was such beautiful color everywhere!  No need to visit other parts of New England this weekend.  There was more than enough beauty and produce to keep us nearby.

How is your September treating you?  It's getting obvious that the days are getting shorter but other than that, this is truly the best time of year in New England.  Last year the changing leaves were a disappointment but we have high hopes for this year.

As always...

Carpe Diem!
