A long ride in the country...

Off we went!  To Millbrook, NY,
to eat in our favorite diner
and see the sights along the way!

brought us to an intersection with this lovely old church.

We passed this sign
 in the middle of nowhere.
We backed up to see what it was about.

Who would have thought?
It is hard to imagine
so many people gathering
in this isolated spot to see a famous prize fight.

 I mean--really--
there was no there there!

We stopped at one of our very
favorite haunts in Millerton, NY.
It is a most charming antique store

This chest of dolls was for sale...

And so were these delightful monkeys!

The windows at Hunter Bee
never disappoint!

It is getting closer to Christmas!  Hanukkah has already begun so  I want to say Happy Hanukkah to my friends who celebrate it.  For those celebrating Christmas, I am sure everyone is busy planning. shopping, and preparing for the big day!  Are you ready?

Until next time...

and as always...

enjoy the day!

Peace instead of road rage...

While strolling through Millbrook, we decided to visit the Farmer's Market. As we turned the corner, we met Conrad who has started a movement to eradicate/lessen road rage called Pax Nobiscum. Instead of using the middle finger with anger, he suggests using a peace sign.

You can read about what inspired him here. We were very happy to talk to him. He has the support of many notable people and he has performed with Pete Seeger whom he has been friends with for many years. We see a great deal of "road rage" when we travel about, so we could relate.

One of the nicest aspects of traveling through New England is talking to people. It adds another layer to a location and I must say that we have met some wonderful people in our travels.

Now if people would also stop texting/playing games while driving...stop making phone calls while driving...would get off the phone when they are crossing the street, the world would be a safer place.

On another note, the heat wave continues. Our electricity bill arrived and we noted that is was the highest one ever. Nevertheless, I am very, very grateful for a/c.

Busy day ahead, so for now,

enjoy the day!

A day without humidity...

A day without humidity

has been a quite rare
this summer.

It was a beautiful

day in Millbrook.

These were very far away

but my watchful eye

can spot them anywhere!

After a a delicious breakfast in the local diner, we were out and about and off to the Farmer's Market. We met some interesting people...more on that later.

Meanwhile, the humidity wandered right back in and so did the high temperatures on Sunday. August dog days...which we have had all summer...are back in full swing.

Happy Monday...

enjoy the day!

On the road today...

Excellent breakfast at the Millbrook Diner, Milbrook, NY

A bridge in the woods...

Wild turkeys...

And more Belties...

Started the weekend a little early. As you can see, I am still looking for and finding Belted Galloway cows, castles and turkeys.

Enjoy your weekend...and whatever you find in your travels.
