Rummaging around...

A friend and I stopped off at a church rummage sale today on our way home from the gym.

We knew it was the second day of the sale and that there would not be a whole lot left to buy. The church doesn't price anything individually but you can buy a brown paper grocery bag filled with anything...for $5.00...so it is a mob scene on opening day.

Immediately I saw a bag of antique lace that had been overlooked by yesterday's shoppers...and a vintage velvet pillow cover with a wonderful cat head that had been hooked...a nice piece of folk art that could even be framed.

There were wooden spools and an old box filled with buttons and other odds and ends in the bottom of the bag of lace.

The lace is so amazing...I must go through it and soak it clean and have a friend look at it who is an expert on lace.  Some of it is exquisite and probably from the late 1800's.

Apparently  nobody wanted a square glass container filled with new Prismacolor and Crayola colored pencils so I brought it home, too.  Other things fit into the bag..but for now, I won't identify them since they will be used to make holiday gifts.

One woman's trash...

is another woman's treasure!

 Fun on a rainy day...

Keep your eye out for the unexpected

and as always,

enjoy the day!

Ooooh, lucky you, the lace sounds divine. I nick in to our local opportunity/charity shops and sometimes I find nothing and other times, real finds like this.
