Hazy...hazy...hazy...

As you can see,
it is very hazy
in southern New England.

When the sky looks white

instead of blue,
day after day....

things begin
to look
darker

than

they really are.

One thing about animals: they don't seem to notice the weather very much and carry on life as usual despite weather conditions.

Just had to photograph the goat with (sort of) Beltie markings. We have seen more and more goats lately. They make very good pets and many people with allergies are drinking goat milk these days.

On the other hand, there is some actual darkness around. There was a terrible mass murder in a town not so far away.

In addition to that, some friends of ours were laid off from work this week and/or received pay cuts or cuts in their hours. Everybody is feeling drained from the heat. Violent thunderstorms didn't clear the air but made it more humid.

This is quite a summer so far. It is a challenge to be-- or stay happy.

So, I hope that my readers know, despite my bloggy attempts at optimism, there are legitimate reasons (of all types) to feel the darker side of things. And that is okay, too.

As always, wishing you the best weekend possible...and hopes that despite all, you will...

be happy.

Hi, you live many thousands of miles from 'old England' but you can take heart that our weather here in England's north west is very similar to yours. So dull and grey the tomatoes are refusing to ripen and we have drizzle every day so working outside is not a happy experience. As it rained on St Swithens Day (July 15th) we are expecting 40 days of rain. So far the prediction is right. Only 19 more days to go then the blue skies might return!! Wishing you a happy weekend whatever the weather.

I have had my car since 01, and I saw 113 for the outside temperature for the first time ever.
It rained last night and is cooler today. I hope we will soon be on the downswing and headed to fall.
Things have been very rough here in MS for us and most of our friends, but I try to stay thankful because we do have jobs even though our hours have been cut.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Your pictures look like they could be the Midwest, with the pastures and haze, which is typical for summer here in Indiana. Even so, it has been one of the hottest and most humid summers I can remember.

Your words touch me; it IS hard to keep a healthy optimism in these times. I try to be mindful that every generation has had its challenges, and that there are good and true people all around us.

Like you :-)

Oh my goodness- Only YOU would discover a Beltie Goat! How amazing! I was struggling, walking along in our horrible heat and humidity yesterday when I thought of your inspiring "Stay Cool" ATC Bear! Well, I did not actually have a rush of cool air envelope me, but I did feel a rush of happiness, just knowing YOU are out there thinking of me! You make everything better.
