Meet the snow king, a giveaway....and Katherine Hepburn's "Kate."

Yesterday I decided that this winter it is just best to give in and realize that it is going to be a winter of snow and more snow. As I was looking out the winter, the snow king formulated in my mind as well as some other little figures. So, I sat down and sketched them before they evaporated as thoughts are prone to do.

On another note, I have an interesting giveaway to post-- here. If you own a vintage Singer Featherweight and are an FW lover, go over to Gaileee's and enter her giveaway! She has number of items that Featherweight owners would love to win.

Going to toot my own horn here...hopefully, it will be for a good cause. When I wrote about Fenwick a while ago here, I mentioned Katherine Hepburne lived there. I didn't post the photo of her home here but I did in my Flickr.

As a result, I was contacted about using the photos in a blog about Katherine Hepburn and the new theater being created in her memory. I hope that you will take a look here at the Katherine Hepburn Cultural Art Center Blog where you will find out about "The Kate."

I have to admit when I go to Fenwick now and look at the same view Ms. Hepburn enjoyed into her 90's, it is with sadness. It seemed like she would be there forever and there was something special just knowing she was there.

On a totally different note, thankfully, we are not having a great deal of snow at the moment and it above zero, around 9 degrees. I feel horrible for people who have suffered through endless snow storms and bitter weather this year. How sad for those who do not have heat. How very sad for the killing in Gaza. How sad for the economic hardships I hear of every day. I am most thankful for the privilege of writing in a blog and in the warmth of a comfortable home.

Enjoy your day...and hope/pray/meditate-- or do whatever you do-- for those who are not so lucky as to be reading here.

Thank you so much for telling your readers about the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center set to open this summer in Hepburn's beloved seaside town of old Saybrook, Connecticut. It is going to be wonderful.
