Moving right along...

Moving right along through an extended heat wave.  Not complaining because we have adequate air conditioning for which I am most grateful.  Today I learned something new:  the term excessive heat warning which was issued for CT about one hour ago.

From Wikipedia:

An Excessive Heat Warning is issued by the National Weather Service of the United States within 12 hours of the heat index reaching one of two criteria levels. In most areas, a warning will be issued if there is a heat index of at least 105°F for more than 3 hours per day for 2 consecutive days, or if the heat index is greater than 115°F for any period of time. Note that local offices, particularly those where excessive heat is less frequent or in areas with deserts or mountainous terrain, often have their own criteria. High values of the heat index are caused by temperatures being significantly above normal and high humidities, and such high levels can pose a threat to human life through conditions such as heat stroke, Heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses.

To be sure, there are hotter places throughout the country and the world.  It just happens to be abnormal for here in Southern New England.  The humidity is the part that is so amazing.

The only thing to do is accept and make the best of it.  Time to create, meditate, water the plants outdoors, fill the bird feeder and bird bath...and wait for it to pass.  Storms are coming over the weekend and then back to this by mind-week.

The big question is:  is this the new norm for a part of the country that used be so cool at night that we keep "summer blankets" on our beds?  Something I would rather not ponder!

Stay cool and as always....

enjoy the day!

Stay cool, Helen. This is pretty normal for the Midwest, unfortunately. I hope the Northeast regains its 'cool' soon :-)

Hello Helen, Sorry for your heat wave...but soon it will pass--it's extra warm in good old "Iowa", too! -- This is what it takes to produce wonderful "Peaches and Cream" sweet corn that everyone is enjoy now. I must admit that it would be nice if it could cool down somewhat.

Try to stay cool and enjoy the weekend :)

It has been quite hot for my part of Oregon too, but we still have cool nights and mornings. One thing we almost never have is humidity, and this summer we have had it. Hello! Oh well, the climate is changing, actually always. As Einstein observed, "The one true constant is change". And, I have read here and there that what is occurring in the US is that we're basically all moving toward similar weather, and rather nice at that, but it may not arrive in our lifetime.

You ARE cool, dear Helen!

Hugs,

Christine
