What a week...

This past week has been a blur.  After getting a flu shot on Saturday, I came down with chills, fever, sore throat, headache, etc, on Monday. Yes, I realize one cannot get the flu from a flu shot...but I have been so ill.  Finally feeling a bit better but you know how tired one can feel from this.

I really wanted to share some more photos from our trip to Belchertown, MA. There was this adorable retro drive-in restaurant way out in the middle of farmland.  We would have eaten there but it was such a tiny place and all the inside seats were taken.  It was such a surprise to see a burst  of pink in the midst of mile of green fields.

We continued our meandering and ended up in Amherst, MA. Now I have been going to Amherst for many decades and never stopped to see Emily....Dickinson that is.

Her family home and her brother's home are right off the main street in Amherst and take up a small city block. We were there too late to take a guided tour, but we did take some photos.

Walking where Emily walked was definitely a wonderful feeling. We were able to tour a bit of the downstairs and  through the yard.

Above is her brother's home.

This is the home where Emily wrote her poetry.

You can find a lot more about it here.  Sadly photographs are not allowed in the museum so I cannot share the part we saw but there are good  photos at the site. We will return some time when we can take the tour...a magical place.

Meanwhile, fall seems to be taking hold. There are squirrels everywhere gathering nuts and scampering about. There are a few that hang out of the deck and taunt our cat.  They are really funny and cute I think I should hand them some bags to carry around when they beg for a handout.  My lack of physical energy resulted in lots of little drawings this week...

Wishing you all good health out there..and if you happen to catch a cold or flu, may it visit only briefly!  As always,

enjoy the day!

Hope you are feeling better, Helen. How delightful to walk the walks of Emily Dickinson; one of my favorite poets.
