I have loved the original Winnie the Pooh since early childhood.
Have you ever seen the actual animals that inspired the book? Piglet bears little resemblance to the illustrations by E. H. Shephard. This photo, from Flickr, shows the original animals at the New York City Public Library.
I never liked the cartoon version although it seems to be quite popular and a huge money maker in licensed products/movies.
The first time I ever made Piglet was when I was a teen. I sent him off to a friend in college. It was about 6 inches tall and made with a striped sock.
Today I decided to make a tinier Piglet. I think the wool felt I had is not quite the right pink but it still came our pretty cute. It's 3 inches tall. It's a pattern from an old book that includes all the characters in miniature. Not sure if I will make the rest of the characters or not.
The weather is worrisome across the USA with deadly storms and floods. My heart goes out to all those who have losses...especially those who have lost loved ones.
I was always cheered by the Winnie the Pooh books. Maybe that's why I returned to the books recently. It seems like all of human nature is compacted into those stories. 'Bet I've quoted from the books thousands of times.Which character are you? I think I have been all of them at one time or another!

I just bought a second copy of that same book on the weekend. I haven't made anything out of it yet but seeing your piglet makes me want to add the characters to my list of things I want to make. My list is pretty long so I won't be making any soon. Your Piglet is very cute by the way.

Love your sweet tiny piglet ...my children loved the stories as wee ones and they each had their favorite character...I had never seen the original stuffed animals...thanks for sharing. The weather is quite troubling...I am so sad for the loss of lives and etc.
Praying for those affected...we are in for storms here today...I am praying they won't be severe...blessings
ARE YOU CRAZY??!!! Now that you have made Piglet, you have GOT to make at least a Pooh and AN EYORE!!!! Love your Piglet!!! Oh look at the originals!!! Oh so much love and character!!!! I am like you..the cartoons always seemed so phoney compared to the real thing. They are just dumbdowned- lacking the wit and clever humor of the real deal! Oh Please keep the tornadoes away!!! They are TOO TERRIBLE!!! Everyone has had enough. Poor poor Joplin...
