Staying merry...

Staying merry here, despite a sore throat!

I am old enough to remember when people were sick, they stayed home, went to bed for a few days, got better and resumed their normal lives. When did it become the norm to go to work and school sick? To spread the cheer of a cold or flu? I have been coughed and sneezed upon so much lately that no matter how careful one is, one can still catch a cold.

When I was little, we were propped up in bed with pillows, served soup and liquids, told to take a nap. There was no TV in bedrooms but you could read a book. In a day or two, whatever was ailing you was over and you were glad to get back up and running.

Nowadays, cold and infections seem to drag on forever, don't they ? They are passed around freely in public or the workplace. People don't take care of themselves very well. The winter world is a cesspool of viruses and quickly spreading infections.

Well, I went to bed and stayed there for the better part of 24 hours. The sore throat is on the wane and my taste buds have returned to normal. Feeling much better but still lying low. (I did watch TV though...)

Still feeling merry...hope you are, too!

Stay well and

enjoy the day!

You did exactly the right thing, and I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better!

I've never understood the point of dragging into work and being ineffective, but sharing all your germs.

Take it easy a couple more days :-)

Your post has much truth in it....people do seem just to busy to take proper care of themselves these days...even the hospitals rush one away so soon I do believe it hinders proper healing...signs of the times and days I suppose...so much of why I cherish days of old :)...blessings and I do pray you are fully well very soon....Stay Merry :)

I am so glad you are feeling better!!! No fun at all to be sick..especially Now! You got me thinking to when I was little and sick in bed. I remember playing with Mr. Potato Head- when we used a REAL Potato!!! Then came the plastic version and his wife as well! I loved them and had so much fun, even though I was sick in bed.
