Rain...at last!

The flamingo scarecrows
have done a
great job!

The window boxes
survived high temps,
but I don't know how!

It has been
raining 24 hours!

We finally have that lovely summer rain we didn't have all summer. It was unbearably humid for a few days but worth it since we have had almost 24 hours of gentle rain. You know the kind...a soaking rain..unlike a torrential thunderstorm that runs off the dry earth.

It was good weekend for staying in and watching old movies. Several Joan Crawford and Katherine Hepburn films were watched here. We ventured out for shopping and brunch yesterday but otherwise stayed close to home. How was your weekend!

It is really dark outside this morning. It is darker earlier in the evening now, too. Everyone says the same thing: the summer was spent indoors a great deal in the a/c. We are all hoping for a nice autumn around here.

Are you tired of summer food yet? I am looking forward to cooking again...soups and autumn comfort foods. Nevertheless, there is wonderful produce for the next month and we will enjoy it. Saturday evening, we grilled scallops and corn on the cob...very yummy!

Happy Monday!

Enjoy the day!

Oh I am So Ready for Fall!!! I look outside and see a few more shadows and I have Fall in my heart. But then I open the front door and the heat grabs me and grunts, "I'm STILL HERE!!!!" AUGH! And we are so tired of skimpy, quick meals because it's too hot too cook. Will it be Summer here forever???

We had corn on the cob last night for dinner. It was pretty good. I have to admit that I love soups anytime of the year. I'm not quite ready for summer's end. Ours got off to such a slow start, that I wouldn't mind a little bit more of all things summertime.

Your garden is truly lovely Helen.
