P.S.

I forgot to mention two things:

Does anybody know what these huge, heavy velvety flowers are? They are so gorgeous and "ruffled." They have hairy stems and are deep oranges, red, yellow and purple. They were in a birthday bouquet and I am fascinated by the whole bouquet.

And I wanted to mention Martha and Jane and the giveaway...don't forget to sign up for this beautiful birdie giveaway!

Okay..once more I am out of here...

enjoy the day!

Hi Helen,

That lovely, ruffly, velvet flower is called Cockscomb, around here at least :-) Your birthday flowers are breathtaking...Sunflowers are my favorites!

Hi! Happy Birthday! Yep, Beth is right - cockscomb it is. I'd forgotten all about those gorgeous flowers. The best thing about them is that they're surprisingly easy to grow! I grew them from seed when I first moved to the country years ago, and couldn't believe something so beautifully unique came out of my garden! : ) They also dry really well, too.

I imagine the dove enjoys your company and the cozy sounds coming from the room.
Gorgeous flowers! I agree with Farmgirl Susan's advice- I bet they will dry beautifully!

Cockscomb. I haven't thought about them in years. My aunt Marjorie grew them in her front yard..I don't remember Mama growing them.
Hope you have a great weekend.
