A fish tale...

Once upon a time there was couple who kept aquariums. They were not married to each other at that time, but they did marry 25 years later.

They had been fish-free for many years. Why? They inherited a slew of cats from their former marriages and those cats lived to be 18 to 20 years old. They took up much time, money and effort and all that goes with four aging cats. The cats are now sadly gone to cat heaven.

They would often tell each other fish tales about the old days and their tanks. Imagine discussing a salt water tank in the 70's with a lion fish named Lenny? Or a 90 gallon community freshwater tank that thrived for 25 years? She fondly remembered her glass algae eater. He reminisced of anemones and clown fish.

This past Christmas season they bought a 20 gallon tank and the necessary accouterments for a freshwater tank. Then the husband began to build a cabinet for it. It would go in their tiny hallway and fit just perfectly. But, first there were boards to plane, a base to be built, doors to make, etc.

Finally it was done! They spent the afternoon preparing the tank for its its future fish family! This week the water will be cycling and next week they will introduce fish a few at a time.

That's my fish tale...and I am sticking to it!

...enjoy the day!

OHMYGOSH! It's like MAGIC! I think your husband is, in reality, a genie who can build ANYTHING from wood into a beautiful piece of furniture in the Blink of an Eye! The fish cabinet is just PERFECT! How exciting and so much fun to have a project you are BOTH loving. We can't wait to meet the lucky fellows who will get to live in the new acquarium! And I want Close-Ups! I don't want to miss a thing!

LOL! We used to have fish too. A 50 gal tank. Mr. Staggs loved his fish, but over the years, it started to take up more time than he had to give to it, and I think he lost interest, a little.

The cabinet is so pretty. I loved having fish. They are soothing to watch.
