It was a beautiful fall morning
when we left the house.
We decided to go
to a nature center
where this majestic
eagle lives...
and hike a few hours
with the grands.
Days like this are so spectacular: early autumn perfection! Hiking in the woods is magical this time of year. The sound of leaves and acorns crunching beneath the feet, the sound of a waterfall at a brook, and the colors of leaves changing are such special autumn experiences. We saw so many chipmunks, squirrels and birds... and one very BIG tree.
A trip to Ben and Jerry's rounded out the day. It was a pleasant 70 degrees as we sat outside savoring ice cream and blues skies.

I havent yet come across a blogger that doesn't love autumn. It is such a wonderful season. I wonder if our ancestors were as enthusiastic with the threat of a long cold winter ahead of them. We are so lucky these days to be able to enjoy all the seasons in the cosy confines of our homes.
Love the fungus on the tree. I can just imagine fairies and sprites sitting on each ledge, having teas and visiting.
