It's summer again!

"One of the brightest gems in the New England weather is the dazzling uncertainty of it."---Mark Twain, speech to New England Society, Dec. 1876.

A tropical storm is roaring up the East Coast delivering weather equal to the worst August dog days. The humidity is relentless. We were going to take the air conditioners out and prepare for winter and now we are glad we didn't. As my late grandmother would say, "it's thick today."

This pair of mourning doves is always hanging about the deck and apparently oblivious to the heat and humidity. They like to sleep in the sun and are often on the hot roof top as well.

Tomorrow night it will plunge into the 40's and possibly into the 30's Sunday night. Such is New England weather: shorts and sandals today...flannel nightgown tomorrow night!

I
s it just me or has the week flown by? What plans do you have? We will go to soccer games and perhaps become leaf-peepers over the weekend, too.

Have a happy weekend and as always,

enjoy the day!

P.S. If you haven;t checked out Martha and Jane...YOU MUST! And their maker has a new episode at Caruthers P. Davenport. You won't want to miss these...we all need some silliness and whimsy in our lives!

Okay, I haven't publicly complained about the humidity...here goes, I am SO tired from not sleeping in this relentless dampness. No air here. I'm thinking about paying a huge premium for a rental with air in CA.

At least it is dry there. Pouring for our final yard sale possibility. Guess we will have a HUGE charitable contribution this year!

On the other hand, we will get a HUGE refund on Thursday for the 500 gallons of propane unused this fall. I'll be smiling about that! :-)

No shorts and sandals here, they are already packed away for next year. It's poured all day. Our leaves seem late to change this year and of course we can never compete with your amazing reds and oranges in New England. Russets, browns and yellows are the best we can do over here. Leaf-peeping here would involve peeping under a leaves looking for bugs! Happy peeping in lovely New England!

The weather has finally cooled off here, it is an amazing feeling to open the garage door (or any door for that matter) and not feel like you have opened the oven door.
And the humidity has gone...or at least it seems like it, the weather channel says the humidity is 53%.
It never ever gets too cold here for me and I will spend the whole winter wishing for snow.
I'm backwards, most people as they age can't take the cold...as I age I can't take the heat.
Have a great weekend.

Are you going to Vermont for leaf peeping??? Our leaves have not really turned as yet. We are only on our third day of cooler weather. We have two large Oaks in the front yard, so the Gnomes are peeping under the fallen leaves when they play hide-and-go-seek! I can't wait to see some of your Peeping Photos!!!
