Serendipity...

We dropped into the White Memorial Conservation Center to hike some trails and were pleasantly surprised to find out it was the 29th Annual Family day. We had the grands with us so it turned into a really interesting and exciting day.

The stilt walkers were amazing! The hawk and doves are part of the Mortal Beast and Deities troupe. Visit their website to learn more about them.

The wingspans are ten feet across and were absolutley wonderful rippling in the breeze!

The museum is one of the nicest I have ever visited. It is small but wonderfully done and kid friendly with many interactive displays.

Hidden inside the tree is a living bee's nest!

On the outside of the building, there is an entry way for the bees to come and go. Fascinating!

There were many displays and events and we had a great time. Our grand-daughter allowed a six foot python to drape around her shoulders...this grandmother was a tad nervous.

It was a glorious day and a beautiful weekend. We actually returned on Sunday for a little more hiking and photos which I will share later this week. The event was over but many people were there just enjoying nature on the thousands of acres. We decided to purchase a family membership since we really enjoy going there so much.

How was your weekend? Are you ready for Monday? I am ready to go right back to the park and hike but it is an hour away so it will have to wait.

As always,

enjoy the day!

Wow, the bees are really something! I love those costumes on the stilt walkers too. My husband made my son a pair of stilts for Christmas one year. I wonder, how many children even think about stilts these days.

It sounds like a wonderful time, Helen.
