A few months ago, we saw a lovely old cabinet in an antique store in MA. We thought about buying it and bringing it home, but my husband thought the condition was not good for the price. He made a quick sketch and measured the little cabinet with thoughts of perhaps making it himself some time in the future.

During the course of the week, we decided maybe we would buy it. As luck would have it, it was gone when we returned just six days later.

He presented me with the little cabinet that he made for Valentine's day. It's made with cherry and has dove-tailed joints. It is sitting atop a desk that he made from walnut many years ago.

When I took these photos, I had set it on waxed paper because the felt foot pads had not been applied. They have since been attached.

What did we put in the cabinet? Pens and widgets that used to clutter the desk drawer!

When you live in a house that is 100 years old, there is not much in the way of closet and storage space. We always look for new ways to store things. We should probably be looking for way to get rid of things instead.
