Never a dull moment...

It's finally nice enough to go outside. Poor Hannah, the needle felted Belted Galloway cow, has spent the better part of the summer in air conditioning... and no traveling!

Surveying the crops, she noticed the tomatoes hiding behind the leaves!

The pink flamingos did a good job and kept away the marauding squirrels...who like to dig up the flower boxes and containers burying food they will never remember to dig up later...

The herb garden thrived...and we have enjoyed being able to use them every day despite the hot weather. They seemed to thrive in it!
Maybe because Winnie the pooh helped the flamingos?

Yesterday we felt an earthquake in CT. This coming weekend there is a possibility of a hurricane sending some bad weather this way. Never a dull moment in New England! With temps in the 50's the past few mornings, it has been fantastic "sleeping weather" so I am not complaining.

How is your week going? So far, so good here...the week is still young!

As always,

enjoy the day!

Out and about...

Though it has been a cool, gray spring, it still has its beauty! Over the weekend, it snowed, sleeted, and rained. But, there were moments when the sun shone or wonderful gray clouds danced in the sky.

We passed by some belties that Mr. DollzandThings spotted from the corner of his eye. He turned around and went back and sure enough...there they were. Regular readers know that I adore these "Oreo cookie" cows, the Belted Galloway.

My love of the Beltie inspired April Ross to create Hannah, my beloved needle felted Beltie. April gifted me with Hannah. Life has not been the same since she knocked on the door!

Earlier in the day we had been in New London, CT, and happened to be across the river from the Eagle in Groton.

There was time that the harbor would have been filled with these ships. A few years ago, there was a tall ship festival and we were lucky enough to board this ship and others. It was wonderful, spectacular time.

It was nice to be "out and about" after such a long winter so filled with snow. There is plenty of snow left in MA and northern CT, but warmer days will melt it soon.

Time to refill my coffee cup and begin the day!

As always,

enjoy the day!

Nature's paintbrush...

Early autumn in Vermont...

Leaves are turning colors...

Hannah never misses a ride...

or a photo op!

While we were enjoying the view...
she went for a walk.

The photos speak for themselves. It's so peaceful and lovely in Vermont. We really hated to come home.

We stopped off at the Vermont Wreath Company in Danby, Vermont and enjoyed some antique shopping. What a great place! We will return there for sure
. I bought a little something there...but that is for another post.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, it is Monday...busy week ahead. How is your week shaping up?

Happy Monday! As always,

enjoy the day!

From the Silo...

One of the other things we did this past holiday weekend was return to The Silo. It is part of the Hunt Hill Farm Trust .

The late Skitch Henderson and his wife created a wonderful spot in New England that houses a shop, gallery, cooking school and museum. It is one of our favorite places to visit.

You know that Hannah
worked her way
into a photo.
She is in that first one, too.
Can you spot her
near the gate?

Hannah never misses
an opportunity!

She wanted to pose
near some
outdoor
sculpture.

This incredible engine
is on the property
though
we couldn't find
and identification for it.

We look forward to autumn and more visits in this area. For now, heat and humidity have returned for a brief, unwelcome appearance.

Much to ponder on the beauty of nature... hopefully, you find that kind of beauty, too.

As always,

enjoy the day!

P.S. There is a new episode over at Martha and Jane. Check it out!

And on we went...

On to the wishing well!

We
passed
by this enormous
hanging basket.

There was pond in a
greenhouse
and you could kiss a frog
to see if it was a prince.
Hannah declined.

We admired this
hutch in the greenhouse.

And Hanna couldn't resist
posing by this painting.

She found some
prime real estate
and was ready
to move into
this "tree house."

Sadly, we had to leave
but not before passing
by the urns in
the painting.

Truly, a visit to To The Umbrella Factory is worth the ride. Anywhere one rests the eye, there is a visual feast. The property is up for sale so we try to visit whenever we can...who knows how long this magical place will be here.

The first of September...temperature will be 94F today. It is as hot and humid as it was all summer. The latest hurricane may take a trip up the East Coast in a few days. There is something perverse about kids being back in school during such a heat wave. This is not normal weather for around here.

As always,

enjoy the day!

Flora and fauna...

It was a beautiful day.

We were ready for adventure.

The bamboo forest was
hidden away.

We discovered what
was on the other side.

Hannah had to move quickly.

Rumor has it
that needle felted cows
are delicious for lunch.

The goats and emus
were very curious.

Those tiny heads...

those scaly feet...
those beady eyes.

Hello!

It was only the beginning...

We stopped and rested
by the Japanese lanterns.

It was a perfect day to visit The Umbrella Factory in Rhode Island. The heat wave is back, but we had a day as clear as bell with a breeze.
It seems like Hannah has wormed her way into accompanying us on day trips.

There is more to this trip...but it will wait for another day. It is Monday and I must leave my readers and start my own day.

Stay tuned and as always,

enjoy the day!

A perfect day in New England...

Mount Greylock hills...

Looking back at Adams, MA...

Hannah was

excited about Vermont.
..

She bravely posed

at Hogback lookout.
..

with its 100 mile view.

It was so peaceful

that we wanted to jump in...

We were blessed with a perfect New England day: sunny, dry, cool and breezy. A day like that makes a big difference in this relentless summer heat and humidity. The sky was blue rather than gray and the open road called to us.

The humidity is back and we are having some much needed rain today. Before this summer, rain always cooled things down. Now when it rains, we have a tropical steam bath for a few days. What's with that?! But, I will hold this day in my heart and mind's eye for a very long time.

Don't forget to sign up at Martha and Jane and find out about that secret potion that can make you old! ( I am still laughing...) Leave a comment and be in the drawing for the cute, cute birdie!

Happy Monday...

enjoy the day!

In search of summer breezes....

A picture is worth
a thousand words...

Hannah enjoyed the attention...

cars were stopping to watch when
I took her photo...

I wonder why?
Isn't it the norm to
cart around favorite toys...
and photograph them?
*smile*

Her thoughts turned to sailing...

But then she decided
that it was better in the shade!

We may have turned a corner here. After some violent weekend storms, the air is supposed to be dry today with blue skies!

How was your weekend? Hope you stayed safe and cool!

Happy Monday and and as always...

...enjoy the day
.
